SYFY’s ‘Day of the Dead’ TV Show Arrives In October

by | Aug 20, 2021

The Dead have risen once more…. Day of the Dead is about to hit our screens. Taking inspiration from zombie legend George A. Romero, SYFY’s new show Day of the Dead, is due to rise from the grave on Oct 15th. The new series is inspire by the zombie universe Romero created with his amazing series of films, that brought the dead back to life in a massive global zombie apocalypse. Showrunners Scott Thomas and Jed Elinoff are hoping that the series will be a fresh zombie-apocalyptic styled series that will capture the imagination of horror fans.

We are actually in a small Zombie revival at the moment. Whilst the early noughties saw an unprecedented amount of straight to DVD Zombie films, we currently seeing a huge amount of zombie TV shows hitting our small screens. The Walking Dead, Z Nation and Black Summer are just a small example of the shows on offer. Day of the Dead certainly has competition, and many of these shows on much larger budgets, but what it lacks in funds, it certainly makes up for in humor.

The new show follows a group of strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion in their small, conflict-filled town. Ten episodes will be crawling their way on to SYFY in October.

Day of the Dead - Horror Land

Whilst the show runners have hinted of some connections from the original 1985 film and the new show, they may have already been picked at the post, as Night of the Living Dead 2 looks set to directly continue the story of the films three survivors.
