“I Have To Hang It Up” Robert England wont be Back as Freddy Krueger

by | Jun 4, 2023

Robert England has had an amazing cinema career, especilly in the horror genre in which he help to shape. As Freddy Krueger, he created an iconic horror villian whoes brutality was only matched by his creativity and homour. Over the last decade, the major conversation surrounding Engalnd was where or not he would ever jump back into the dirty fadora and gloves, as the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise’s  future is very uncertain.

Englund has haunting dreams as Krueger since Wes craven’s original movie was released in 1984. He also appered in seven successful sequels, not to mention a TV series, records and vrious other cameos and promos over the years. A grand legacy indeed.

Unfortunately, in an interview with Variety this week Engalnd finally announced that he wont be returning as Kreuger for any future films. He said,

“I’m too old and thick to play Freddy now. I just can’t do fight scenes for more than one take anymore, I’ve got a bad neck and bad back and arthritis in my right wrist. So I have to hang it up, but I would love to cameo.”

Whilst we are unsure if there will be any new Nightamre movies, director Mike Flanagan has recently sopken about his idea for a new film. Whether or not this goes ahead, it looks like we’ll be needing a new actor to play Freddy Krueger moving forward.
