 📗 SUMMARY
  • The house from Tobe Hooper’s 1982 supernatural classic Poltergeist is up for sale.
  • Freelings family home was a real hosue in California.
  • The home was used for external shots in the film.

The legendary Freeling family home from Tobe Hooper’s 1982 supernatural classic Poltergeist is up for sale. However, we doubt that spooks or burial sites are responsible for the current owners decsions to sell. Netherless, would you want to hand over the California price tag of $1 million to live in the famous (or should that be infamous) movie home?

The fictional suburban housing development, Cuesta Verde, was in real-life the small estate of Forest Hills in the Simi Valley north of Los Angeles,  which was famously caught on camera during the early stages of it’s building progress. The actual house, located at 4267 Roxbury St, Simi Valley, CA, was used for much of the external shots of the film. Whilst the interal shots were all produced on a sound stage.

The original owners have spent the last 45 years in the home, and we are promised that the house is “clean”.

“For the first time in 45 years, the legendary house from the movie *Poltergeist* is back on the market! Yes this is the home where much of the first movie of the series was filmed but “This house is clean” Seriously, it is! Well-loved by its original owners, this charming 4 bedroom, 2 1/2-bathroom home is ready to welcome a new family, without the ghostly antics, we promise!”

You can take a virtual tour over on the Zillow site, where you can see the real internal structure, which looks surprisingly like the films internal layout. Just in case the page is taken down, we have added some of the images below.
