‘Evil Dead Rise’ Wraps with Bloody Post

by | Oct 26, 2021

It’s been almost 10 years since the last Evil Dead film in 2013, so today is truly a day of celebrations as director Lee Cronin heralds the end of shooting for Evil Dead: Rise. The new film is heading our way in 2022 and the crew have massacred enough film to finally call CUT on the next chapter of the bloody film franchise.

Cronin took to twitter with bloody snap shots of himself and clothes to celebrate the final days shoot and the start of post production. Cronin tweeted

“8 months, 1 Covid Lockdown, 6,500 litres of blood, and more memories than my brain can even process. That is a wrap on #EvilDeadRise. Thank you New Zealand, it’s been a blast. Time to head home and cut this beast together.”

And what a beast it will be, as Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert are producing the new film with a cast starring Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings), Morgan Davies (The End) and Lily Sullivan (Barkskins). The synopsis reads thus:

A twisted tale of two estranged sisters whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.

Those evil deadites have not yet dropped release date, but we’ll surely get a trailer or teaser before the year is out. As always, we’ll be keeping our severed ears to ground for the latests on this eagerly awaited next chapter of Evil Dead.
